DEFINITION OF REPORT TEXT

DEFINITION			A Report is a text which classifies or describes something based on systematic observation.
COMMUNICATIVE PURPOSE				The Communicative Purpose of the Report text is to describe the way things are, with reference to a range of natural, man-made and social phenomena in our environment.
GENERIC  STRUCTURE (Text Organization)		GENERAL CLASSIFICATION : It tells what the phenomenon under the discussion is or It introduces the thing that will be talked about.
		DESCRIPTION : It elaborates or reports the subject in detail, or It tells what the phenomenon under discussion is like in the terms of : 1.     Parts 2.     Qualities 3.      Habit or Behaviours (if the thing is living).
LINGUISTIC FEATURES (Lexicogrammatical Features)	1.     Menggunakan General Nouns , seperti: ‘Reptile in Comodo Island’ 2.     Menggunakan Relating Verbs (Lingking verbs) untuk menjelaskan ciri, misalnya: Reptiles are scaly animals (ciri ini berlaku untuk semua reptilia). 3.     Menggunakan Action Verbs (Material Process) dalam menjelaskan perilaku, misalnya: Lizard can not fly. 4.     Menggunakan Simple Present Tense untuk menyatakan suatu yang umum, misalnya: Komodo dragons usually weight more than 160 kg, dsb. 5.     Menggunakan Istilah Teknis, misalnya: Water contains oxygen and hydrogen, dsb. 6.      Menggunakan paragraf dengan topik sentence untuk menyusun sejumlah informasi.
